About Me

I'm a 26 year old gamer from Hampton, Virginia. I have always had a massive interest in video games dating back to the first video game I remember playing- Contra (if you know, you know). From time to time my friends and I would all congregate at my neighbor's house to take turns playing, trying out different user combinations to see who could advance the furthest without losing. My interest in video games as well as the competitive nature I play with to this day originated there and continued to grow as time progressed.

A few years later my mother bought a console for me and my brothers to share. It was the original Xbox. Back in those times, we would have to rent and return games every few weeks as well as play demo disks that came in the Xbox magazines to determine which games we would potentially want to play the full version of later. This gave me a broad exposure to many different types of videos games and helped to determine which games I have the most interest in. On console- I gravitated towards racing games the most initially. Some of my favorite games were: RalliSport Challenge, Sega GT 2002, Midnight Club 2, Midtown Madness 3, Burnout, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2, then later Need for Speed Underground shortly after. As I started to enter my teenage years, my interest began to shift over towards shooter games. My favorite game during these years hands down was a game called Metal Arms: Glitch in the System. Other games I played heavily during this time included Mace Griffin: Bounty Hunter, Unreal Championship (close second, absolutely loved this game), Dues Ex: Invisible War, TimeSplitters 2, and of course- Halo: Combat Evolved . There were many others, but in terms of console games, these were the games I played these most in my spare time and have the most fond memories of early on; however, this was all before I had online gaming capabilities. Once I obtained my own personal Xbox 360 a few years later, along with that wireless adapter we would have to plug into the back of the system- my gaming experienced changed forever.

Around 2009/2010, the first game I played intensely online- Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. For many of those reading this description, my experience on this game needs no explanation because for so many gamers it was nothing short of legendary. If time travel is ever perfected, on any give Friday in 2010 you could catch me in a party of 6 playing CoD, talking reckless, but also creating timeless memories of triumph as well as frustration. This is also the time I met many of closest friends to this day, including Cappin' Out Brand Owner- Kevin Maness! From here, first person shooters became a major area of interest. The newest Call of Duty was an automatic purchase along with the newest FIFA as soccer was my biggest passion. FIFA 11 was the first FIFA I owned and FIFA 12 was the first FIFA I mastered. I had many rivals I would play endless online friendly sessions with, mostly those who I played travel/select/high school soccer with and those games shaped me into the massive FIFA competitor I am today. These were also the beginning of my FIFA Pro Clubs tenure which will make up a large portion of the posts I make on my portfolio.

In 2017, my video game tenure took a massive turn into what it is to this day as this is around the time I played Overwatch Orgins Edition for the first time. Overwatch Orgins Edition IS THE BEST GAME EVER CREATED. In 5 years I have racked up 96 days played on my main account and I have two surfs past level 100. So yeah, I play a ton of Overwatch. This is also around the time I taught myself how to solve Rubik's cubes an became a collector. I have over 40 cubes and have spent countless hours perfecting and critiquing my solve with my goal set at obtaining a 10 second solve. When I finally reached that goal, I began to seek a new challenge. A good friend of mine I met in pharmacy school was into chess and I began playing iPhone chess games against him non-stop starting in 2018. I was a beginner and he was around 1700 strength, so as you can imagine, I lost every time. No, really, every single time. I quickly found out that chess it not a game you can win by luck alone when facing people of a certain strength. This fueled my competitive spirit as I am very hard headed and was convinced that I could eventually progress to the level he was at with the proper focus and attention to detail. Once I realized that chess is a much more complex game than I ever imagined, I began to look at chess videos, created a chess.com account to play people closer to my rating, and asking my friend for pointers as opposed to trying to learn through my defeats alone. This is when my progression came more rapidly. From there I was introduced to the show "The Queen's Gambit" which with my new interest in chess made the show even more impactful. My main takeaway from that show was being introduced to opening theory. I didn't know how deep and imperative studying openings were until watching that show and began studying openings ever since. I even acquired a few chess books, purchased a chess.com premium membership and began doing the lesson, taking small steps towards becoming a better chess player. I am now around 1300 Rapid rating and 1000 Blitz and Bullet rating. I also have a rated puzzle rating of 1900 and put lots of stock into practicing puzzles.

All of these things passions I have and all of the history I have stated here plus more have all culminated and are reflected into the videos and content I post here on my Cappin' Out Portfolio. This platform allows me to house all the things that have brought me the most joy throughout my life and it is my hope that it will continue to be felt by everyone who interacts with my content.
